Simon Pierro – The iPad Magician

Check out the world’s first 3D printer magic illusion

3d printer magic illusion

You’ve never seen a 3D printer like this. It’s the world’s first 3D printer that actually seems to be printing human beings right in front of your eyes. Here I am working some 3D printer magic as I scan myself in Berlin and then “print” myself in Mannheim, 388 miles away.

I premiered this unique human-sized 3D printer magic illusion in Mannheim, when my lovely assistant Monique and I materialized in front of a sellout crowd at the debut of my live magic show, “The Digital Magician.”

This 3D printer magic is controlled, of course, with iPad magic. It’s much faster than most 3D printers on the market today, which can take hours to print even small objects.

This technology is just downright fascinating to me. In fact, 3D printers are destined to take over the world someday soon, giving us the convenience of downloading plans for a variety of objects and then simply printing them out. Imagine foods (check out these custom 3D-printed Oreos!), shoes, toys, household items — even cars and houses — all printed on demand.

One of the coolest things 3D printers can do is personalize items especially for you. You can change the shape, color or texture of any object, and then simply print it. This kind of personalization is important to almost everyone — according to a recent survey, 84% of consumers see value in personalization experience, and 3D printers deliver that and more.

But no one suspected you could print out magicians and their beautiful assistants in front of a live audience. I’m not sure if I want this 3D printer to customize me or Monique as it teleports us from one place to another, but the idea of printing a house or car that can be custom-tailored to my every whim seems like something out of a science-fiction movie to me.

By the way, I’d like to thank like my magic consultant Mirko Callaci for his help in the development of this new concept, which was built by Spanish illusionist Adrian Soler. It must be seen to be believed!
